One of the most reliably cold hardy citrus species, the Ichang lemon has survived many an arctic blast and is hardy down to 10°F., possibly lower once established. Fruits ripen reliably even in cooler climates and the juice makes an excellent lemonade or lemon substitute, though slightly more sour with a hint of bitterness. A beautiful ornamental evergreen as well as a useful addition to the hardy citrus catalog.
